Later, we listen to the music of Michi Wiancko and her song about finding friends who love you for who you are.

EP.5 - BEETHOVEN’S BERRY BONANZA

How do music and food go together? In the Aizuri Quartet, we layer our sounds and blend four instruments together to create one group sound. That got us thinking, there are many foods that have layers - layers of different flavors that blend together. Food and music are great partners! It's like unlocking another way we can use our imagination, by connecting our ears to the sense of taste. How is the quartet sound related to a lasagna fresh out of the oven? Can we sound like a creamy vanilla pudding? After rehearsal, it's time to cook a very berry treat, all while listening to Beethoven's gorgeous String Quartet Op. 127!

EP.2 - WAWANI: SOUNDS OF CELEBRATION

Hawa Kassé Mady Diabaté loves the joyful handclapping songs from her childhood in Mali! These songs are often about being together with your family and your community, and she wrote Wawani inspired by that tradition. We love it because we get to make music in three different ways — by playing with our bows, plucking our strings, and clapping. Come join the circle with the quartet and let the music make you smile!

*Wawani is from the Kronos Quartet: 50 for the Future Free String Quartet Library

EP.1 - NANCARROW’s ANIMALS & THE QUEST FOR THE TOMATO

Which animal is your favorite: an octopus, an armadillo, a hippopotamus, or a yellow mountain lion? In this first episode, the Aizuri Quartet introduces the bouncy and zany music of Conlon Nancarrow by transforming each instrument into one of these animals. Then, watch the four hungry friends as they search the garden for the perfect snack!
